Man oh man the LIRR sucks

Man oh man the LIRR sucks.

I'm sorry but, it seems like something happens everyday now. It's not
the most robust or failsafe system to say the least. Redundancy is a
concept that haven't grasped. How about a plan B?

So the problem tonight is there is a powerline down at Valley Stream. So
no trains can go thru. This might not be their fault but, there should
be a backup plan.

Oh great now our train is cancelled, all trains are cancelled and
everyone needs to get off and wait on the platform.. So we're stuck.
Standing on the platform. No way home. No announcements of buses or
alternative transport. Just stand on the platform and wait.

What if this was a terrorist attack?
What if there was a real emergency?
LIRR has no backup plans for anything.

Happy friday everyone. We'll be lucky to get home at all.

This better be weather related and no so yahoo driving drunk into a
powerline or some such nonsense.

:(

Totally agree (I actually googled for "LIRR sucks" and landed here). LIRR has gone down the shitter lately. I've taken the LIRR daily for about 6.5 years spanning across a decade.

Believe it or not, LIRR was functional ~10 years ago. I *WISH* they had this many delays and daily fuck ups back then, maybe I would've got some free time off from school.

Now that I commute for work, I can't justify paying 250+ bucks a month for such shitty service. Sad part is, only option is to move closer to/into the city cuz they're basically a monopoly.

And yeah, I remember the "power down" (can they please hire someone who can speak English?) at valley stream. My morning oyster bay train has been delayed for about three days in a row now. This morning, the excuse was a medical emergency (bullshit). Last week it was signal trouble (bullshit). etc etc etc. Absolutely can't take this shit anymore.

LOL. I googled "LIRR sucks" too.

There used to be a great website called just that a few years ago but I think the MTA clamped down on them. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in Russia.
